WHAT TO EXPECT FOR ACADEMIC ADVISING AND COURSE REGISTRATION
Advising and course registration occur separately from the virtual NSO experience. After signing up for NSO, students are provided with instructions via the TXST Admissions Status Portal regarding how to receive academic advising and course recommendations. Students should allow up to 2 business days after signing up for a NSO session for their TXST Admissions Status Portal to display advising-related instructions.
- Freshmen students will submit a New Bobcat Advising Worksheet form which is available through the TXST Admissions Status Portal.
- The Advising Worksheet provides information on a student’s academic history up to that point (Advance Placement (AP) credit, dual credit, International Baccalaureate (IB) credit, standardized test scores (ACT, SAT), etc.).
- First-Year Advising staff members will provide course recommendations for students based on the information provided via the Advising Worksheet.
Both freshmen and transfer students should complete both NSO and academic advising as soon as possible to ensure course registration, financial aid awards, and an overall smooth transition to Texas State.
