At Texas State, we are excited to welcome nearly 12,000 new Bobcats each year at New Student Orientation (NSO)!

WHAT TO EXPECT

For the Spring 2025 semester, all new freshmen attend a one-day orientation session on campus designed to prepare incoming first-year students to be successful at Texas State. In order to satisfy your orientation requirement, it is important for you to sign up and attend this NSO session. To sign up for NSO, students must be admitted to the university and have an activated NetID and password.

At NSO you will meet other new Bobcats, learn about services and resources that are here to help you succeed, receive essential academic information, get your student ID card, and deepen your connection to Texas State! Our First-Year Advisors will also work in partnership with you to complete the course registration process in advance of or during your orientation experience!

Parents or guests are encouraged to attend the Orientation program with their student.

Enrollment Checklist

Before attending the on-campus program, students must complete the following tasks required for enrollment.

Round Rock Campus

Freshman students wishing to enroll at the Round Rock Campus (RRC) are also required to complete an orientation experience.  Students may register to complete the asynchronous online module to meet this requirement.  Those students will also complete the course registration process separately from the online module experience.

NSO Sign Up

Freshman Orientation sessions are for first-time students who 1) are graduating from high school and will start at Texas State the semester after graduation, or 2) have graduated from high school and have not taken any college level courses since graduating.

      The one-day, on-campus orientation session is required for all new first-year students starting in the spring term.

      FRESHMAN NSO FEE = $110

      Freshmen signing up for NSO for Spring 2025 will pay a $110 fee at sign-up.*  

      *The $110 fee is non-refundable.
