At Texas State, we are excited to welcome nearly 12,000 new Bobcats each year at New Student Orientation (NSO)!

WHAT TO EXPECT

All freshmen attend a two-day orientation session on campus designed to prepare incoming first-year students to be successful at Texas State. In order to satisfy your orientation requirement, it is important for you to sign up and attend this NSO session. To sign up for NSO, students must be admitted to the university and have an activated NetID and password.

At NSO you will meet other new Bobcats, learn about services and resources that are here to help you succeed, receive essential academic information, get your student ID card, sleep in a residence hall, and deepen your connection to Texas State! Our First-Year Advisors will also work in partnership with you to complete the course registration process in advance of or during your orientation experience!

Parents or guests are encouraged to attend the Orientation program with their student.

Before attending the on-campus program, students must complete the following tasks required for enrollment.

NSO Sign Up

Freshman Orientation sessions are for first-time students who 1) are graduating from high school and will start at Texas State the semester after graduation, or 2) have graduated from high school and have not taken any college level courses since graduating.

    • SUMMER 2024 NSO DATE

      The one-day, on-campus orientation session is required for all new first-year students starting in the summer term.

      FRESHMAN NSO FEE = $110

      Freshmen signing up for NSO for Summer 2024 will pay a $110 fee at sign-up.* 
      A full refund of paid fees may be requested by email in advance of participating in NSO and before June 1.
      *The $110 fee will be deferred to the semester bill for students who qualify for an application fee waiver and it may be covered, in full or in part, by financial aid.

    • SAN MARCOS CAMPUS

      Attending a two-day, on-campus orientation session is required for all new first-year students starting at the San Marcos campus in fall 2024. Students who will enroll exclusively in classes at the Round Rock Campus (RRC) have the option of attending a two-day session in San Marcos or a one-day session in Round Rock. When signing up for a two-day session, choose from the dates listed below.

      **Freshmen students who are unable to attend a two-day, on-campus orientation session may attend an one-day orientation session on Tuesday, August 20. Students attending this session will be charged $110 for this experience (due at sign-up)

      ROUND ROCK CAMPUS

      One-day, on-campus NSO sessions are available at the Round Rock Campus for new first-year students who will enroll exclusively in RRC classes only. When signing up for a one-day RRC session, choose from the dates below.

      FRESHMAN 1-DAY NSO FEE (RRC) = $70 (DUE AT SIGN-UP*)
